Lumet’s movies, to me, always seem to have that vernacular language feeling to them: This is how people live their lives, this is how they get themselves into messes, and this is how they stumble through them. You understand these people: neurotic bank robbers, incorruptible cops, honest jurors, people with troubled marriages and complicated pasts.
