At some point in your life, you recognize that you're overdue for a makeover. If those Urkel suspenders and mullet hair are no longer working for you, what can you do?

There are numerous products on the market promising to make you look dazzling for a price. If your wallet is telling you to slow your roll, consider downloading a few makeover apps. Always wanted to try the latest fashion trend? Well, there's an app for that. Experiment with reducing your double chin, having bangs, and plumping your lips. With a mobile app makeover, you're only limited by your imagination.

For the rest of us, we can enjoy the vicarious thrill that comes with watching a character transform halfway through a movie. I've selected five of cinema's best "from not to hot" moments. Check them out below and feel free to tell me your favorite movie makeover moments.

Eliza Doolittle (Audrey Hepburn) - MY FAIR LADY

"I washed my face and hands before I came, I did."

Dirty, smelly, and tattered was Eliza Doolittle's (Audrey Hepburn) before being transformed into a stunning beauty, one who was articulate, elegant, and posh. This makeover made her presentable to work as a florist. Apparently, floral boutiques were one of the top jobs during the 1800s in England. It was one of the most iconic makeovers in cinema history.

Mia Thermopolis (Anne Hathaway) - THE PRINCESS DIARIES

"I can't be a princess! I'm still waiting for the normal body parts to arrive!"

Remember those high school years, where braces, musicals, and dodgeball were rites of passage for geeks? Geek girl Mia had to navigate frizzy hair, being a tenth-grader, and the sudden popularity that came with being outed as a princess. It's amazing what a flat iron, eyeliner, and a royal title will do.

Gracie Hart (Sandra Bullock) - MISS CONGENIALITY

"I am in a dress, I have gel in my hair, I haven’t slept all night, I’m starved, AND I’m armed! Don’t MESS with me!"

I can relate to Gracie's tomboy ways. I was the girl who loved building forts with the boys and going on commando raids with them. I could climb trees with the best of my male counterparts. The key that made Gracie's transformation so incredible was how horrid she looked before her makeover.

Marisa Ventura (Jennifer Lopez) - MAID IN MANHATTAN

"Look, who's kidding who here? Do you think you would have taken a second look at me if you knew I was a maid?"

Marisa scrubbed toilets and served posh guests. She wondered when it would be her turn to experience the lifestyle of the privileged. This film doesn't show any miraculous makeover reveals. Instead, Marisa's transformation is subtle and very special.
