What I Like About Buster Keaton
I first encountered Buster Keaton at the Egyptian Theater in Ogden about twelve years ago. It was a performance of his short film One Week (1920) with live organ accompaniment. The film was an unexpected prelude to the feature I had gone to see, but I have no memory of the actual feature. I watched One Week with my mouth open, thinking, “How can this old film be so funny, and why have I never heard of it before?”

I’ve always been into finding and watching movies. I first joined Netflix in 2003, but it was in 2004 that I started trying to watch each year's Academy Award Best Picture nominees. I figured that would be a way to see some great films.
Once I succeeded in seeing all the Best Picture nominees before Oscar night in 2005, I started to become obsessed and attempted to watch all the nominees over the next few months.
DVD Netflix played a big part in helping me achieve that goal. My queue was filled with all the Oscar nominees that I needed to see. Over time, I stepped up my filmgoing habits. By 2009, I had become obsessed with trying to see all the Oscars nominees before the awards ceremony.
