Favorite movie of all time?
Star Wars: Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. It is a movie that reminds me of my childhood and a timeless movie I could watch over and over. The story is about the Force binding us all together and all the mysticism behind that. Some of my favorite scenes are Luke training with Yoda and slowly understanding his powers, the light saber battle between Luke and Darth Vader, and, of course, the revelation of Vader being Luke's father - shocking! The camaraderie and strength of the characters was impressive and each had their own personality. Han Solo was the coolest cat out there, yet had his soft side when it came to his friends, especially Princess Leia. The cinematography was unbelievable and the soundtrack is incredible - iconic, really.
What's your go-to genre for movie night and why?
I like the action hero movies a lot. Movies like The Avengers, Spider-Man, and The Hunger Games have good plots, but also develop the characters so that you care about them and root for them to overcome the adversity put before them.
Favorite movie quote?
"Do or do not - there is no try."
- Yoda, The Empire Strikes Back
Best action scene that got your adrenaline running?
One of my favorite action sciences is at the beginning of Raiders of the Lost Ark, when Indiana Jones is trying to take the idol out of the cave. He has to jump across a huge hole to grab his whip without being locked in the cave forever, and avoid arrows shooting past him from the walls on each side while a giant boulder quickly rolls towards him. He runs while about a hundred natives shoot poisonous arrows at him, before he jumps into the river where his pilot friend has an airplane waiting and fishing to pass the time. The pilot frantically drops his fishing rod and starts the plane while Indy holds onto the side, and climbs into the cockpit while the plane is in mid-air. Great action scene!
Favorite comedy scene that made you LOL?
Lots of scenes from the movie Due Date with Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis, but one of the funniest - I laugh just thinking about it - is the scene where they're drinking coffee and at one point realize it's Ethan's (Zach Galifianakis' character in the movie) dad's ashes they were drinking, not coffee.
If you were stuck on an island, which 5 movies would you want with you to pass the time?
- Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back
- Field of Dreams
- The Shawshank Redemption
- Raiders of the Lost Ark
- Avatar
