“My DVD Story is about movie nights with my husband. He loves his zzz’s but I love my DVDs”
— Gerusa Oliveira, member since 2009

Member Spotlight: Gerusa Oliveira

June 28, 2018 in Collections, Inside The Envelope

DVD:  You’ve been a member since 2009. What do you love about DVD Netflix?

Gerusa: It's convenient, easy, fast, organized, and fun! And I love movies of all kinds—I love romance, I love comedy, I love drama, I really love a love story, and I love to laugh. When a movie arrives when I’m feeling down, it makes me feel one hundred times better.  Keep this in mind: I select movies way in advance, sometimes not even knowing what it's about. I'll be going through a situation and I can't quite express myself and a movie will arrive that touches on that very subject at that specific time in my life that actually helps my husband understand how I feel. Coincidence? I think not, it's all DVD Netflix!

DVD:  What’s movie night like at your house?

Gerusa: When my husband is home, we love to watch movies in bed. We’ll set up. We’ll put the movie in. We’ll be all snuggled and then, I’ll hear a noise from my husband…It’s like a snore noise?

Me:  You were sleeping!

Him:  No I wasn’t!

(We’ll go back to watching the movie.)

Him:  Zzzzz!

Me:  You WERE sleeping! Do you want me to turn off the movie?

Him:  Yes, I really want to watch it later.

Two days will go by, and we still haven’t finished, so I’ll just finish without him! I’m down for watching a movie any time of day. I’m ready. I’ll stop anything I’m doing to watch a movie.

DVD:  Has there ever been a time that DVD Netflix, or a particular movie in the catalog, saved the day for you?

Gerusa: Recently I had some unexpected fun watching a movie with my five-year-old goddaughter. My old house wasn't very kid friendly, so I was worried when she was coming over for the night that we wouldn’t have anything fun to do together. Guess what came in that day in the red envelope? Hotel Transylvania 2! Thankfully, I love animated movies. So, I made us popcorn and we had a movie night! Saved the day for sure.

DVD:  What are some of your favorite movies of all-time?

Gerusa:  Here are 10 movies I really really enjoyed. They are in no particular order except for the first one! I love, love, love, love Fifty Shades of Grey!

  1. Fifty Shades of Grey (2015)

  2. The Boss Baby (2017)

  3. The Zookeeper's Wife (2017)

  4. The Great Wall (2017)

  5. The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi (2016)

  6. Deadpool (2016)

  7. Annabelle (2014)

  8. The Blind Side (2009)

  9. Crazy, Stupid, Love (2011)

  10. Django Unchained (2002)
