These documentaries are vastly different, but almost all of them share a theme: the characters are all either striving for fame or fleeing from what’s become of modern society – one even does both. They want to be heroes, but they feel lost and unappreciated in this mad world. If you feel like taking a break from some of the ugliness you see on your devices, stop, pop some popcorn, put in one of these well-done, bizarre documentaries, and root for the underdog.
