Not all remakes are disasters. Most are, to be honest, but not all. A successful remake has to be true in some meaningful way to the original but have a value and integrity that is independent of its original. The 2016 version of The Magnificent Seven is the first on my list of five remakes worth watching.

The husband and wife dully coexist until they discover that they share the same undercover profession: they're both assassins, working for competing firms. Being assigned to kill your own spouse? Well, that certainly adds spice to a mundane relationship! In recent years, there's been a rebirth in the spy comedy genre with films like Kingsman infusing flashy, sleek espionage action with humor and gags. Check out these hilarious spy films, both old and new.

In Sideways, and indeed in all of the films on this list, Payne explores a familiar theme in his movies: the crisis point of a person’s life—that moment when the cumulative misdeeds and untaken opportunities finally pile up on a person and force them into a complete reexamination of their life (often comically disappointing) and assessment of what to do next.
