From what my parents tell me, I became interested in art at age two, and I have a painting to prove it. I started pursuing it as more than a hobby when everyone at school kept asking me to “make their pictures better so they could get a better grade.” I realized that drawing may be the only thing I could do as a career. It’s not the easiest choice, but it’s pretty fulfilling.
With Netflix DVD, I can catch up on pretty much anything whereas Redbox is limited when it comes to older movies.
I started sketching on the DVD envelopes in, I think, 2011, when I was living in Rolling Meadows, IL. Did a few and they ended up on a Buzzfeed Netflix envelope list somewhere (we found it here). I use Prismacolor pencils, brush markers, and a non-bleed white paint. I sometimes like using Derwent pencils on them but pencil lead will rub off easily, which is why I use Prismacolor.
When I'm not putting my touches on the DVD mailers, my favorite mediums are acrylic paint, water based oils, Prismacolor pencils, Bic pens, and regular pencils. I really can’t touch pastels and watercolor is not my friend just yet!
If she was stuck on a desert island with only five movies, she'd choose....
I had to think about it! Definitely wanted some movies that were super funny, but at least one “serious” movie.....
A movie that she's rented recently & would recommend.....
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. I can’t say enough about how terrific that film was. It made me want to sell whatever I could and go travel. For right now, I can see the world through my laptop, and I’m ok with that.
What's her favorite....
Movie: Raiders of the Lost Ark
Actress: Emily Blunt
Director: J.J. Abrams
Movie snack: Movie popcorn with that “butter” petroleum goo, and plenty of it!
I’ve lived in 8 different states mostly and some of those are multiple repeats. I really do miss biking in downtown Chicago, even though most people think I’m crazy. I miss driving in snow, as it’s fun to me. A great part of life is getting people to laugh at just about anything, and I take that challenge with me wherever I go.
