DVD: You joined DVD Netflix in 2012. What prompted you to join?
Janelle: The vast range of movies, shows, and shorts in the DVD Netflix catalog! Seems like I can find even the oldest, most obscure movies to the newest reality TV.
DVD: Once you joined DVD Netflix, you fell in love with one feature in particular. Can you tell us a little bit about it?
Janelle: Yes! I really enjoy the queue feature—because of the way DVD Netflix is set up, it really allows me to expand and keep track of the movies I want to watch. I organize and queue groups of movies at a time, usually around a theme, genre, actor, or actress. I watch most of my DVDs (80%) with my mother, and I like to curate a month or two for her. For example we are currently in the sci-fi/action theme starting with Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), Jurassic World (2015), Edge of Tomorrow (2014), Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017), Atomic Blonde (2017), and will continue with Passengers (2016), which is what will be delivered to my home today.
I joined DVD Netflix in 2012, and I have since become a big movie buff. I can find some of the good, old movies that are very hard to find anywhere else, on any other platform. By putting it in the queue, I feel like I’m saving my list in the cloud. And my DVD Netflix queue is now at 500 or 501. I think I need to up my game!
DVD: It sounds like DVD Netflix not only helps you find great movies, but brings you closer to the ones you love.
Janelle: Absolutely, it brings us together. No matter what our political, social, or economic views, we can sit together with healthy snacks and watch a film. Sometimes I use DVD Netflix to find obscure films my professors request, and there’s always enough movies to be found for girls-only sleepover night! Our movie nights enable us to hold a dialogue about the movie or TV show in a fun and dynamic way.
DVD: What are some of your favorite movies of all time?
Janelle: Wow, hard task! Here’s my list—I tried to show range without being too predictable or clichéd.
