I love watching strong, fighting women on screen and Milla Jovovich has played LOTS of awesome ladies on screen. In fact, VH1 named her “the reigning queen of kick-butt” in 2006, so that makes it pretty official. To celebrate her, I wanted to revisit Milla’s top three action movie roles:
In this epic sci-fi movie, a 23rd-century cabbie finds himself involved with a fetching alien who may hold the key to saving the world. It stars Bruce Willis, Gary Oldman and Chris Tucker, in addition to the wonderful Milla Jovovich. Milla plays Leeloo and certainly brings her fighting movies to this movie.
This was a breakthrough role for her and was a really fun way to start off her action movie career. Sure, she’s been in plenty of non-action movies, but when I think Milla Jovovich as Leeloo, I think of THIS scene:
When a vampirelike disease begins infecting the human population and giving them enhanced intelligence, fantastic stamina and lightning-fast speed, the world quickly divides into those who have it and those who don't. Believing the infected to be a menace to society, the government seeks to wipe them out. But can one woman with the disease (Milla Jovovich) help save an infected child (Cameron Bright) from cruel and unusual punishment?
As she says, “killing is what I do… it’s what I’m good at”

Yup, total badass.
You can’t talk about Milla Jovovich and action movies without bringing up Resident Evil. In the Resident Evil series, Milla plays zombie-killing soldier, Alice. The first movie came out in 2002 and the last one hit theaters in 2017… and somehow Milla has not aged. There’s a ton of action, some horror, zombie killing and just general bad-assery. The Resident Evil series is the highest-grossing film series to be based on video games and grossed over $1.2 billion worldwide. And if you like it, there’s SIX of them for you to watch!
