Hollywood is adapting a slew of non-fiction and fiction books into films. If you like to read books before the film adaptation releases, then you're in for a treat. Instead of covering books adapted to film in 2017, I thought I'd focus on the highly-anticipated adaptations of bestsellers coming to movie theaters in 2018.
Get ready to plan your reading schedule so you can be prepared to watch some amazing films, from old childhood favorites like Peter Rabbit to romantic dramas like Fifty Shades Freed to sci-fi spectacles like Ready Player One.
Worried the movies might not be as good as the books? Don't pay to watch them in theaters; just add these to your queue.
The final chapter of the Maze Runner trilogy has fans brimming with anticipation. A pandemic disease called Flare is reaching apocalyptic levels. Thomas and his Glader warrior race against time to find a cure, while defending themselves from the WCKD organization.
Reimagined for the modern age, this childhood favorite is ready to entertain and dazzle a new generation of children. It's full of mischief and whimsy, mixing live action with animation, as the mischievous Peter Rabbit plots to raid Mr. McGregor's vegetable garden.
If you thought the first two films had you reaching for a tray of ice, then this third installment of the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy will have you reaching for an ice bucket. A wedding, a steamy honeymoon, a crazy ex-lover, and a kidnapping will have you on the edge of your seat.
Star Wars fans rejoice. Natalie Portman (Padmé Amidala) is back! Well, maybe not as Padmé, but as another strong female character. Natalie plays a biologist who embarks on a covert expedition with three other women: a surveyor (Tessa Thompson), a psychologist (Jennifer Jason Leigh), and an anthropologist. They investigate a mysterious place called Area X, which the government has sealed off and marked as top secret.
Ballerina Dominika Egorova is a Russian spy, who must seduce a CIA operative assigned to Moscow. Loyalties are blurred, decisions are made, and danger lurks around every corner.
The title of the film reveals that you should prepare for an adventure of a lifetime. Meg, her brother Charles, and her schoolmate Calvin race against time to save their father, an astrophysicist who was working for the government on a top secret project before he mysteriously disappeared.
If you love a good dystopian society, then this film should make you smile. Young Wade Watts, a gamer, takes you on a virtual scavenger hunt for a fortune, while keeping evil corporate foes at bay.
